Idli is a type of rice cakes , which is originated from southern region of South India and in some Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils and rice. This is a very popular breakfast recipe all over the nation. Its is eaten with Coconut chutney. It is cooked from lentils and rice so its very light as well as very healthy. It is rich in vitamins and also its a fermented food therefore its bio availability of minerals in food.
Here we presents you Stuff Idli – This tastier and better way to present it, which is easy to cook as well as more nutritious due to its stuffing.
Ingredients for Stuffed Idli
1. Suji aka semolina
3. ENO – Eno is an over-the-counter antacid brand, produced by GlaxoSmithKline. Its main ingredients are sodium carbonate, Sodium bicarbonate and citric acid
Potato Stuffing :
1. Potato – 6 pcs
2.Green chilly – 3-4 pcs
3. Ginger – A bit
4. Dhaniya – 1 bundle
5. Red Chilly powder – 1-2 Table spoon
6. Garam Masala – 1/2-1 Table spoon
7. Amchur/Dry mango Powder – 1-2 Table spoon
Prep Time : 1 day
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves : 4 people
Step 1 : Mix 1/2 kg Suji with 1/2 cup fresh curd and some water to make it a thick paste . Soak it overnight to get the thick paste ready for Idli.
Step 2 : Make potato Stuffing by mixing all the above mention ingredients in it.
Step 3 : Add salt according to taste in the overnight soaked suji paste.
Step 4 : Take Idli mould and do a bit greecing in it , so that the idli doesn’t stick in it.
Step 5 : Then start making idlis one by one by adding thick paste in the mould then fill in with potato stuffing then further cover idli with thick paste. Do this step repetadly to fill all the places in the mould.
Step 6 : Let it cook for 10 minutes and after that wait untill the mould get cool , to take idli out from it.
Your stuffed idli is ready to serve .
